Look before you leap, Think before you speak,
Teaches you not to fall prey, to unfavourable tweak.
Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched, A bird in hand is worth two in the bush,
Teaches you not to be greedy, day-dream and rush.
Don’t upset the apple-cart, Don’t put the cart before the horse,
Teaches you to prioritise and be nice to everyone, lest with your behaviour, should you be filled with remorse.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, Slow and steady wins the race,
Teach you to instill in you hardworking nature and perseverance, in this world which is fast-paced.
Great minds think alike, Birds of same feather flock together,
More often than not you find this to be convenient, as differing opinions may sometimes bother.
Save for a rainy day, A stitch in time saves nine,
Teach you to notice everything and plan, factors which are prime.
Physician, heal thyself, Practice what you preach,
Teach you to correct your wrongdoings, be an example you want to teach.
Looks could be deceptive, Don't judge a book by its cover,
Teach you to be wary of and inspect everything, not be pre-occupied with the opinions you may want to shower.
Better late than never, Better to light a candle than curse the darkness,
Teach you to never lose determination and hope, which are necessary to live life to its fullness.
These have been passed on through generations, we call them proverbs,
Formed through life's experiences, take them as guidance.
